Have you heard of Pando?

Often called the world’s largest living organism or the world’s largest tree, Pando is an extraordinary natural wonder. Located in Utah and spanning 106 acres, it is a single aspen colony (with over 40,000 stems). It has endured for thousands of years, and scientists have determined it to be one of the oldest life forms on Earth.

Yet despite its resilience, Pando, like many great forests, faces serious threats from climate change, human encroachment, and invasive species. Without decisive action, this ancient giant could be lost forever.

We’re committed to making a difference by giving back to preserve the future of our planet. That’s why we’ve chosen Friends of Pando as one of our Epic Tree Partners – to help protect and restore this remarkable ecosystem.

Introducing Friends of Pando

Our newest partner, Friends of Pando, is a nonprofit dedicated to researching, protecting, and restoring the Pando aspen colony. Their work includes:

  • Scientific research to assess Pando’s health and threats
  • Habitat restoration, including fencing and regeneration projects
  • Public education to raise awareness and inspire conservation efforts

Despite its massive size and resilience, Pando faces challenges from land development, climate stress, and disruptions to its natural regeneration cycle. Friends of Pando is working to change that, and we’re proud to support their mission.

Why Pando Matters

Pando isn’t just a tree; it’s an interconnected ecosystem, that supports biodiversity and plays a crucial role in carbon storage. Yet, without intervention, parts of the colony die faster than they can regenerate.

Through targeted interventions – like fencing vulnerable areas, planting new shoots, and reducing external threats – Friends of Pando proves restoration is possible. With the right support, Pando can continue to thrive for generations.

Watch this PBS video to learn more about the threats Pando faces and how conservationists are fighting to protect it.

Taking action for forest conservation

Trees are one of the best defences against climate change, absorbing between 10 and 40 kg of carbon over their lifetime.¹ That’s why, every month, we plant a tree for each customer and team member. Alongside this, we’re growing and maintaining our forest in Scotland.

In 2025, we’re furthering our commitment by partnering with organizations at the forefront of forest restoration. This means working with experts and conservationists to combat deforestation and protect some of the world’s most important ecosystem.

Join us in giving back

By protecting Pando, we’re investing in a healthier planet. Join us in supporting this incredible work, and stay tuned for more updates throughout the year.
