Working remotely has great benefits for people, planet, and profit. Less driving means more time and money and a lower carbon footprint. Our teams provide 24/7 live answering service, and other support for our business clients, from wherever they are. Rather than spending time stuck in traffic, they’re on the Internet in their home offices, solving problems and helping our clients grow. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Meetups for Remote Team-Building
Still, meeting up face to face once in a while is good for team unity. Plus, it’s fun.
About twenty of our Idaho team members met up last week at Wahooz Family Fun Zone for a Boise team meetup of go-cart racing, laser tag, bowling, and more.
Natalie, Lorissa, and Jewel from our leadership team made the trip from Portland to join in the fun.
“The best part was getting to put not only faces with names but memories as well,” says Steven, one of our Boise-area team leads. Steven met his supervisor, teammates, and even one of the agents on his own team for the first time in person during the MeetUp. “From the time spent on the go-carts, chatting while bowling, trying to dodge Natalie in laser tag, the whole event was a success. I cannot wait until we do this again,” he says.
“It Makes You Feel Valued”
Sarah leads our recruiting team from her home office in Boise. “I adore working at home, and I believe that nearly everything we can do in an office, we can do from home,” she says. However, she says she still found a lot to gain from the meetup. “It is an invaluable experience to meet in person and share some laughs and really get to know someone a little bit better,” she says. “It makes you feel valued as an employee and united as a team. I saw people laughing, smiling, feeling validated when sharing work experiences, talking about our mission and the life of the remote worker, encouraging and thanking one another,” she says.
Laser Tagging Your Boss
Robert, one of our customer experience associate team leads, was able to meet people face-to-face who he had previously only spoken to on the supervisor line, when they call to get his help or advice. He also enjoyed meeting AnswerConnect’s first employee in the state of Idaho, still with the company after six years. “That was really cool,” he says.
“It was great to introduce yourself and others to different people in different departments. Seeing others relax amongst leaders and management was awesome. We are just people making our way through our busy lives, but stopping to enjoy some fun is a great opportunity to see we are just everyday people,” he says. Racing the go-carts, bowling, and playing laser tag gave the teams an opportunity to unwind together. “How often do you get away with shooting at your boss?” he says.
Thanks to Boise-based team leaders Sarah and Marcia for helping to organize the event!
